We are the Herbst & Muller herd (Unfortunately not the heirs to the H&M fortunes). We aren’t your average coffee snobs. We are crazy about the insane flavours of coffee, and the odd 5 minutes in fancy coffee shops, who isn’t? We are better acquainted with that magical feeling that the first sip of insanely good coffee gives you; that sip before you rush off to a day next to the sports field, in between never ending homework sessions, or at sunrise road tripping with the fam.

Who we Are

We are the Herbst & Muller herd (Unfortunately not the heirs to the H&M fortunes).

We aren’t your average coffee hipsters. We don’t have man-buns (well, only sometimes). We have boys. 5 of them.

We are Riekie and Storm:  Women, mothers, wives, business owners, fun lovers, problem solvers, multi-taskers and all-round-coffee-loving-samurais. Not always in that order.

We love our families, we love to travel, we love meeting new people, we don’t accept any limitations in our lives and we are crazy about coffee. These are the things that brought us together under the banner of crazygoatcoffee.co.za.

Let us entertain your taste buds.

Where the name comes from:

The name crazygoatcoffee.co.za originates from the story of Kaldi, a 9th century Ethiopi-an goatherd who supposedly discovered coffee after seeing his goats become excited when
snacking on the beans of the coffee plant. We thought the name very fitting as we were
looking for something a bit ‘crazy’ in the sense that we too could dare to build something
different and something fun that could take us to places we never thought we could go. We wanted to work on something that we enjoyed and had a passion for and that is within a growing market sector. After much research and many cups of coffee in many interesting coffee shops, we realized it was under our noses. Literally. Crazygoatcoffee.co.za was born.

Our journey with coffee began many years ago,” says Riekie Herbst, owner of crazygoatcoffee.co.za. “My then-boyfriend, now-husband, and I journeyed to London in the hope of earning a few pounds. Being used to ‘filter coffee’ only in our restaurants, on a freezing winters morning, just off the plane, we ventured into a franchise coffee shop. “Coffee, please,” I said. “Wha’s tha’, mate? Americano, Latte, Hazelnut Smachachino… wha’ coffee you want?” Big-eyed, we reversed out of the shop having bought tepid bottled water instead. We vowed never to not know coffee again. The journey began.
